Luther Elliss was drafted in the first round of the 1995 NFL Draft number 20 overall out of Utah. While at Utah he was selected first team All Western Athletic Conference defensive lineman from 1992-1994. In 1994, he was selected Western Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year, and was also named All American.
He played for the Detroit Lions for 8 seasons and played for the Denver Broncos for one season, before retiring in 2004. In his time in the NFL, he was a two time Pro Bowler after the 1999 and 2000 seasons and was named to the All-Pro team in 1999. For his career he had 29 sacks and 331 total tackles, and in 1997 he had his career high in sacks with 8.5.
