Boyd was a two time Pro Bowl selection in 1999 & 2000 as middle linebacker from the Detroit Lions. He was selected in the fifth round of the 1995 NFL Draft out of Boston College, the 141st selection, where he starred for four seasons.
Boyd fished his career as the third all time leader in tackles with 773 total tackles, and also 6.5 sacks, 3 interceptions, and 6 forced fumbles. In 1997 Boyd had 192 total tackles and in 1999 he had 184 total tackles, two of the best season of any Detroit Lion linebacker.
